Offer Accepted
I was getting 15.2 LPA in my previous org and now i am being offered 29.5 LPA but the designation is 1 position lower than what i was in my previous org. Should i go ahead with the offer or still negotiate on designation.
Protip : i was laid off in my previous org.

Go for it because you're getting 100% hike.
Please Note - Every organization have their own grading system. So maybe the grade they're providing you might be equivalent or a level up compared to your last organization.

If the new role aligns with your career goals and the pay jump is significant, it might be worth accepting. You can always negotiate for a promotion later.

Given that you were laid off, securing a high-paying job quickly is already a great move. Performance in this role could get you the title you deserve in the near future.

Evaluate how the new role might affect your work-life balance. A higher salary might be worth it if the job offers a better balance.

What was the reason you gave in interview for layoff in previous org?

an associate lead

[gracefullhibiscus](username) actually no reason given .. the new org was underwhelming understanding. They said these things happen and should not affect your career foward.

If the role responsibilities match your experience and the downgrade is only in title, accept it. Performance will speak louder than designation in the long run.

What ? Is this really a question ? What will you do with your designation ? Always keep one thing in MIND, THE SALARY WHICH CREDITED TO YOUR ACCOUNT IS WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS. DONT GO FOR THIS DESIGNATION BULLSHIT. WORK AND EARN.

You must accept. Starting at a lower position and that too on a higher salary is nothing less than a boon. You will get further benifits with respect to promotion, as it becomes more difficult to get promoted at higher levels. So, you will have at least one easier step to climb up, offcourse with further financial gains.

How did you justify your lay-off to the new org?

[lordraj365](username) honestly i was fortunate enough that they considered my condition and they said these things happen.. these are market trends and they things happen. I was overwhelm by their response..

Is this transition from a financial services company to a FAANG/adjacent company? Financial Services company titles are always inflated, and if this is the case then it's a no brainer to accept the offer

I'm also in the same situation. I have received an offer from a product based but they are offering me a lower position than the current one. However, the pay is good (30-40% hike). I'm confused if I should take this or not.

[an associate vice president](username) I didn't get you - are you suggesting to take this offer (with lower designation but higher pay) or stay in the same firm ?

[insanedolphin](username) i mean to say brother .. if salary is not an issue .. it is worth staying back .. designation are sometimes tough to get .. considering WLB and culture are good in your old org

Lower designation opens the high probability of future promotion. It's a blessing in disguise.

Designations vary from company to company. If your new company is larger than your previous one, there is no harm in pursuing the new opportunity, especially since you've mentioned that it aligns with your goals. Who knows, based on your performance, they might offer you a promotion sooner than you expect.

Accept the offer considering you are laid off from your current job and you have only this offer in hand. One position lower shouldn’t harm you much right now. You can always make up for it.

Designation does matter but it isn't above the career goals and financial stability. And if both of these criteria matches then you should definitely hop on to the opportunity. Once you have more knowledge then you'd be given the desired designation too.
