14-Hour Work Week? Karnataka IT Workers Say "NO!" But Will They Be Heard?🤷♀️
IT companies in Karnataka are proposing a grueling 14-hour workday, sparking outrage from employees. Unions fear burnout and job cuts.🤦♀️
Will the government side with workers or big business? Let's discuss💭

Does the current government want IT sector to die off ? What’s wrong with the decision making machinery of this government? Yesterday there was a news to increase cess on movie tickets. Ok fine to an extent. But also to charge people of state for OTT subscription. IMO this is unimplementable though. After their state budget got hit after their freebies schemes, they increased bus fares, increased charges on milk etc. Rents are sky high, Roads are pathetic, water crisis just said HI this year, don’t want to even mention traffic, local auto walas have gone bonkers. I think everything is going wrong with this city and on top of that bizarre laws from state government just so that they can milk out every single penny from any other person. Don’t know about other sector employees but I believe IT employees are just here because of their base location else they’re happy to exit BLR!

14 hour workday plus a two way commute of 4 hours because WFH is bad for the local economy?
Obnoxious proposals like this make me happy that I left the city and the country. Sometimes I wonder if I am missing the growth and economic opportunities of an emerging economy but stuff like this makes me realize there’s a lot more to life than that.

Instead of reducing work hours as technology progresses these soulless companies with only profits as their goal are constantly increasing work hours. No one in IT should be working for more than 6 hours a day, or 8 hours a day 4 days a week. This corporate slavery is really killing me from the inside.🤷♀️

They are just treating their employees as bots or I should say slaves. Government should intervene in this and protect the rights of the employees and they must ensure that they are treated properly and importance should be given to them so that they get a healthy environment to foster their career.

Job Offer Dilemma
I’m in a situation and need some guidance.I have a job offer with:CTC: 9.4 LPA fixed + 21% variable = 11.4 LPA total.Location: Chennai (not ideal for me).Another opportunity is in the pipeline, with a more suitable location, but the expected CTC is around 9.4 LPA, which is significantly lower than the first offer. To add to the dilemma, the HR of the second company feels that asking for 12 LPA (considering my 9.4 LPA fixed offer) is too high. How would you approach this decision? Should I prioriti...

Notice period negotiation
I resigned from my current company a couple of days ago. I have a 90 day notice period. I tried to negotiate it with my manager of the current company, asking to release early as the new company has early requirements and also on a medical ground basis, but my manager is not agreeing. I tried to talk with the HR of my current company. HR is ready to give the "buy out" option and I am also ok with it. But for the "buy out" to happen, HR needs something officially written from my manager that I do...
