With a strong commitment to innovation, we are seeking a Process Research Head to drive waste valorization, process improvements, and product innovation for our paper and molded fiber production operations.
Mission of the Role
Lead research initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes, achieve enhanced fiber morphology, improve product strength, and push the boundaries of waste valorization for sustainable and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process Optimization for Bagasse-Based Paper Production:
- Drive research to improve fiber morphology and enhance the strength, quality, and consistency of paper products.
- Explore innovative chemical treatments and recovery techniques to achieve higher efficiency.
- Collaborate with operations teams to implement process improvements and monitor performance.
2. Product Innovation for Molded Fiber Production:
- Lead initiatives to improve the strength and durability of molded fiber products.
- Develop and test new production methodologies to meet evolving customer requirements.
- Work closely with the R&D and production teams to commercialize innovative product solutions.
3. Waste Valorization:
- Explore new ways to convert waste streams into valuable by-products, contributing to sustainability and revenue generation.
- Develop and implement technologies to minimize waste and maximize resource recovery.
- Conduct feasibility studies and pilot projects for waste valorization initiatives.
4. Chemical Recovery Enhancements:
- Drive innovations to improve the efficiency of chemical recovery systems in the production process.
- Monitor and optimize recovery rates to reduce raw material consumption and operational costs.
5. Process Efficiency and Sustainability:
- Identify opportunities to reduce energy and water consumption while maintaining product quality.
- Lead initiatives to minimize the environmental footprint of production operations.
- Benchmark processes against global best practices and strive for continuous improvement.
6. Team Collaboration and Leadership:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, and technicians.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration within the team.
- Work closely with production, quality, and R&D teams to align research outcomes with operational goals.
7. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Use advanced data analytics to monitor process performance and identify improvement areas.
- Prepare and present research findings, feasibility studies, and project outcomes to senior leadership.
8. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all research and process changes comply with safety and environmental regulations.
- Develop protocols to maintain a safe and sustainable work environment.
Key Outcomes (Year 1-3)
1. Achieve significant improvements in fiber morphology and paper product strength.
2. Enhance the quality and durability of molded fiber products to exceed market standards.
3. Develop and implement at least two waste valorization projects that contribute to sustainability and revenue growth.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Master\u2019s or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Technology, Material Science, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in process research and innovation within the pulp and paper or molded fiber industry.
- Proven track record of driving process improvements, waste valorization, and product innovation.
- Strong knowledge of bagasse-based paper production, chemical recovery systems, and molded fiber manufacturing.
- Skills:
- Expertise in process optimization, waste management, and sustainable manufacturing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management abilities.
