Senior Cath Lab Nurse (Male)

Role & responsibilities

• Assessing and preparing patients before catheterization procedures.
• Monitoring vital signs and ensuring the patient is stable.
• Administering medications, including sedatives and pain relief, as per the physicians orders.
• Assisting in the management of emergency situations, including arrhythmias or adverse reactions.
• Providing education to patients and their families about the procedure, recovery, and follow-up care.
• Supporting the interventional cardiologists during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including angioplasty, stent placement, and electrophysiology studies.
• Handling and preparing equipment such as catheters, wires, and imaging tools.
• Ensuring sterile technique is maintained at all times.
• Monitoring the patient during the procedure and reacting promptly to any changes in condition.
• Supervising junior nursing staff and providing guidance during procedures.
• Mentoring and training new staff or students in the cath lab environment.
• Ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and best practices.
• Overseeing the documentation and maintenance of patient records.
• Ensuring compliance with safety protocols, infection control, and patient privacy standards.
• Regularly reviewing and ensuring that equipment is functioning properly and is well-maintained.
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives and audits.
• Preparing reports on procedures, incidents, and outcomes.
• Monitoring patients post-procedure for complications or adverse reactions.
• Assisting with the recovery phase, including checking for bleeding, assessing cardiovascular status, and pain management.
• Discharging patients with appropriate aftercare instructions and ensuring they understand the follow-up steps.

Preferred candidate profile

• Minimum of 7-10 years of clinical nursing experience, particularly in a cath lab.
• Experience in handling complex interventional cardiology procedures
• Proven leadership experience in supervising and training nursing teams in a high-pressure environment.
• Expertise in managing critical care patients and emergency cardiac situations.
• Strong clinical skills in invasive cardiology, including an understanding of imaging systems, cath lab equipment, and instrumentation.
• Excellent communication skills for patient interaction, family education, and interdepartmental communication.
• Strong knowledge of patient safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance within a cath lab setting.
• Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, and post-procedure recovery.
• A commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of cardiovascular nursing.
