Senior Laboratory Technologist - Biochemistry

Role & responsibilities:

• Oversee daily lab activities and ensure smooth operations.
• Manage a team of junior technicians, guiding them in procedures and protocols.
• Ensure laboratory equipment and instruments are properly calibrated and maintained.
• Design, plan, and conduct complex biochemical experiments.
• Develop and optimize analytical techniques to improve experimental outcomes.
• Monitor and ensure the accuracy of results through quality control checks.
• Maintain proper documentation of experiments and results to comply with legal and organizational standards.
• Oversee inventory management, ordering and maintaining lab supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
• Ensure optimal stock levels and proper storage of reagents and chemicals.
• Collaborate with researchers, scientists, and other lab teams on ongoing projects.
• Act as the point of contact for lab-related inquiries and problems.
• Identify and resolve technical issues related to lab equipment, protocols, or experimental results.
• Recommend improvements in lab processes and equipment to enhance efficiency.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's or Masters degree in Laboratory Technology.
• At least 5-10 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with a proven track record of handling biochemical experiments and complex lab equipment.
• Strong leadership and supervisory abilities, with excellent team management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow and enforce SOPs.
• Problem-solving mindset and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication skills for reporting, training, and collaborating with others.
• Proactive, adaptable, and able to handle changing priorities in a dynamic research environment.
• Strong analytical thinking and the ability to make informed decisions based on experimental data.
