Prepare and position patients for invasive heart procedures.
Conduct cardiovascular tests to record patients cardiac activity using specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices and laboratory instruments.
Monitor gauges, recorder and video screens of computer system during imaging of cardiovascular system.
Prepare reports of diagnostic procedures for interpretation by physician.
Prior to surgery, the technologist is responsible for ensuring the EKG equipment is in working order, and during the procedure, the technologist will monitor the ECG readouts and keep the doctor apprised of anything considered abnormal.
Prepares the patient for the procedure by cleaning, shaving and, in the case of cardiac catheterization for angioplasty, anesthetizing the area of insertion.
Assist intervention in cardiac procedures (PTCA, pacemaker, PTMC).
