- Defining the business development roadmap
- Under the supervision of the Management and in cooperation with Corporate and the Business Areas, take full ownership of the Group's business development roadmap in India. The Business Development Manager will follow the financial indicators of its geographical scope, business trends and be in direct contact with advisors to suggest opportunities for internal and external growth initiatives, or for repositioning.
- Support prioritisation of the various projects, determining / refining projects and suggesting new projects by identifying sectors and companies that might be viable business targets.
- Executing the roadmap
- Be responsible for following and/or coordinating all business major growth projects for India (M&A, partnerships, some large capex etc.) working closely with
Corporate and the Business Areas
- The Business Development Manager is expected to be instrumental in the execution of the projects, especially the external growth ones (M&A, JV, partnership.. .
- He/She will either manage or coordinate all project management tasks under the sponsorship of the Country Chairman India, Group Strategy VP and the Business Areas leaders: ensuring the target fits with the strategy, meeting the targets, preparing a first business plan, determining the ideal structure of the deal/ project, ensuring coordination with the M&A department, lead negotiations with the target, coordinating with Business Areas etc.
- For all business development projects
- Being the project manager
- Research market conditions and developments
- Qualify the opportunity, build or support a business plan
- Analyze, assess and communicate high-level business impacts and risks.
- Identify potential partners, contact them and assess their suitability
- Identify key milestones and support decisions making
- For M&A projects, key activities include (with the support of Corporate M&A team):
- Managing cross-functional teams through the transaction process.
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with our target companies and related network.
- Leading the transaction process from A to Z, including operational due diligence, synergy review, "day-one" readiness assistance, post-merger integration.
- Carrying out financial modelling that supports the assessment of M&A opportunities (investment, divestment.)
- Support on conducting financial due diligences
- Involving the Legal department, ensuring all the regulatory aspects of a transaction have been considered,
Education:
- MBA from leading business school (preferable)
- Engineering degree is a plus
Previous professional experience:
- Min. 8 years experience including M&A (ideally Corporate, otherwise in investment banking), and ideally strategy experience either within a top tier strategy consulting firm or in a strategy capacity of a leading multinational corporate
