Job Description :
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the data center, including monitoring systems, managing workflows, and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Responsible for handling all the technical problems in Servers & providing guidance to all location engineers(In case of multi location projects).
- Coordinate response to any technical issues, outages, or incidents, ensuring they are resolved quickly and effectively.
- Daily health check of all the servers & preparation of Daily Server Dash board.
- Monitor the capacity of the data center and plan for future expansion or upgrades based on organizational growth and technological advancements.
- Regular back up of servers ,storing & handling of Tapes with due nomenclature.
- Maintenance of all Datacenter equipment history in Equipment History Register with details of activity done for each equipment.
- Maintenance of Security Register with details of each personnel entry in the datacenter with time logging & purpose.
- DC Lead will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of proper Datacenter environment (Temperature, cleanliness, cable tidiness, server & network labeling etc.
- Maintenance of Backup Log register (to have records of daily back up's).
- Ensure that all data center hardware and software are maintained, updated, and operating efficiently.
- Mail queue management & handling issues regarding mail.
- Responsible for proper Antivirus patch management.
- Responsible for being the highest escalation point on site for any L2/L3 level desk side call in the project.
- Should provide guidelines to the desk side engineers for any Technical escalation.
- In case of any problem not being resolved in time, the DC Lead will escalate the problem to back end support with the help of Project Manager with Problem Escalation Form duly filled in & will keep updated with details of resolutions or treatments being done to the problem.
- Work on Service Improvement Plan.
- The final resolution to the problem should be recorded in the Problem Escalation Form with details of Root Cause Analysis & Knowledge Base Entry.
- All Problem Escalation /RCA forms should be filed at the Datacenter for future reference.
- DC Lead will help in preparing the disaster recovery planning with details of recovery options & preparation for all the Servers & Network equipment, if required.
- Analyze Incidents, suggest & implement changes with the help of Project Manager/SDM for effective call reduction.
- Build the site knowledgebase by recording relevant calls in Knowledge base.
- Ensure that the data center complies with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Manage relationships with hardware and software vendors, including negotiating contracts and ensuring that SLAs are met.
- Identify potential risks to the data center's operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Implement and oversee security measures to protect data center assets, including physical security, network security, and data integrity.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure that projects align with the overall IT strategy and business objectives.
- Lead and manage data center projects, such as migrations, upgrades, and new deployments, ensuring they are completed on time.
- Work closely with internal and external customers to understand their needs and ensure the data center services meet or exceed expectations.
- Maintain open communication with stakeholders, including IT leadership, business units, and external partners, to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Conduct periodic audits of the data center's operations, security, and compliance to ensure adherence to policies and regulations.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on the data center's performance, including key metrics, incident reports, and strategic initiatives.
- Lead and manage a team of data center technicians, engineers, and other support staff.
- This includes hiring, training, and evaluating team members.
- Ensure that the data center is adequately staffed to meet operational requirements, including managing shift schedules and on-call rotations.
