Senior Accountant - Australia (Hybrid)

Role & responsibilities :

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards.
• Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).
• Perform bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and other ledger reconciliations.
• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
• Process payroll, including superannuation, payroll tax, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting.
• Manage end-of-month and end-of-year financial processes.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements for management.
• Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns in compliance with Australian taxation laws.
• Ensure compliance with GST, PAYG withholding, and FBT regulations.
• Assist with the preparation of BAS, IAS, and other ATO lodgements.
• Liaise with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and state revenue authorities regarding audits, disputes, and compliance matters if required.
• Review financial statements and ensure accuracy for tax reporting purposes.
• Knowledge about tax effect accounting calculations and deferred tax reconciliations.

Preferred candidate profile :

• Minimum 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in Australia.
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws, GST, PAYG, and Superannuation.
• Experience with BAS/IAS lodgments, payroll processing, and Month End reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with clients, accountants, and regulatory bodies. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify discrepancies.
