Managing Director of Software Engineering


Job Description:

- As a Managing Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase in the Consumer and Community Banking sector, you are an experienced technologist and senior leader overseeing various technology-driven projects and teams. You will oversee a team of approximately 400 professionals, focusing on modernizing and transforming our document management systems.


- This role requires a visionary leader with proven experience in cloud technologies and organizational modernization. The successful candidate will drive the development of self service capabilities and ensure the efficient processing of millions of documents daily.

Job responsibilities:

Leadership & Management:

- Lead and manage a diverse team of engineers and technical staff.

- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Develop and implement strategic plans to modernize document management processes.

Technical Strategy & Execution:

- Oversee the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability.

- Drive the development of self-service platforms to improve user experience and operational efficiency.

- Ensure robust and secure handling of all document processing activities.

Process Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation.

- Implement best practices for document management and processing.

- Monitor and analyze performance metrics to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement:

- Collaborate with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with business goals.

- Engage with key stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.

- Communicate progress and updates to executive management and other relevant parties.

Compliance & Risk Management:

- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

- Implement risk management strategies to safeguard data and operations.

Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities:

- Over 10 years of experience or equivalent expertise in leading technologists to address, anticipate, and resolve complex technical challenges within your area of expertise.

- In-depth knowledge of various technical disciplines and technology strategies, including emerging trends, research, and technological advancements.

- Proven experience in managing complex technology functions across multiple locations.

- Demonstrated ability to influence technology strategy and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives.

- Capability to inspire and motivate technologists while fostering a culture of innovation.

- Extensive hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies.

- Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

Preferred qualifications, skills, and capabilities:

- Recognized thought leader and innovator with demonstrated industry experience.

- Experience working at code level.
