Head Mechanical (Coal Washery Plant, 3+MTPA)

Job Description:

Experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Manager to oversee the project and commissioning activities for a large-scale coal washery plant with a capacity of 3+ million tonnes per annum (MTPA). The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical engineering with expertise in the installation, erection, and commissioning of coal washery systems and related equipment. This role requires leadership in managing mechanical engineering aspects of the project lifecycle, from initial planning to successful plant commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all mechanical engineering activities for the coal washery plant project, ensuring successful installation, commissioning, and operation of the plant.
• Oversee the design, fabrication, erection, and commissioning of coal handling and processing systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
• Supervise the mechanical team during the installation and commissioning phases, providing technical direction and resolving any mechanical issues that arise.
• Ensure that mechanical systems are designed and installed in accordance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and review detailed technical specifications, drawings, and schedules for mechanical works related to the washery plant.
• Coordinate with other project teams, including civil, electrical, and instrumentation, to ensure smooth and integrated project execution.
• Manage contractors and suppliers involved in the installation and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.
• Monitor and report on project progress, identifying potential risks or delays and implementing corrective actions to stay on track.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues encountered during commissioning, optimizing plant performance and reliability.
• Oversee the preparation of operational documentation, maintenance manuals, and training materials for plant operators and maintenance teams.
• Ensure that commissioning activities align with the project scope, cost estimates, and timelines, achieving the plants full operational capacity.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on coal washery plants or similar large-scale processing plants.
• Proven experience in the installation, erection, and commissioning of coal washery or related mineral processing systems, preferably for capacities of 3+ MTPA .
• Strong understanding of coal washing technologies, materials handling, and beneficiation processes.
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical design principles, equipment selection, and commissioning practices.
• Proficiency in project management tools and mechanical design software.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in high-pressure environments.
• Familiarity with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for coal washery operations.

Desired Skills:

• Experience managing large-scale coal washery projects with capacities of 6+ MTPA.
• Expertise in designing and commissioning coal washery systems and related mechanical equipment.
• Familiarity with modern coal processing technologies and best practices in the industry.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization techniques for coal washery systems.
