Purpose of the Position:
This position is responsible for: -
The Head of Coal Trading is responsible for leading the coal trading business, overseeing the buying & selling of coal in domestic & international markets. This role involves developing trading strategies, managing risk, optimizing supply chain logistics & ensuring profitability. The incumbent will lead a team of traders, establish key relationships with suppliers & customers & drive business growth while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements & market trends.

Trading Strategy & Business Development
# Develop & execute trading strategies to maximise profitability in physical & financial coal markets
# Identify & capitalize on market opportunities, ensuring competitive positioning
# Lead negotiations for large-scale contracts with key suppliers, buyers & stakeholders
Market & Risk Analysis
# Monitor global coal market trends, pricing fluctuations, supply-demand dynamics & geopolitical risks
# Assess & manage exposure to market risks, price volatility, credit risks & supply chain disruptions
# Implement risk management strategies, including hedging & financial instruments, to mitigate potential losses
Leadership & Team Management
# Lead, mentor & manage a team of coal traders & analysts, setting clear performance targets
# Foster a high-performance trading culture focused on innovation, risk awareness & accountability
# Ensure team members are up to date with market intelligence, regulatory changes & best trading practices
Logistics & Supply Chain Optimization
# Oversee the coordination of coal shipments via rail, sea & truck to ensure cost-effective & timely deliveries
# Manage inventory & stockpiles while aligning with market demand
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
# Ensuring all trading activities comply with local & international regulations, environmental policies & corporate governance
# Stay informed about trade policies, import/export regulations, sustainability requirements
Performance monitoring & reporting
# Track & analyze trading performance, ensuring targets & key performance indicators (KPIs) are met
