Job Description

Job Title: Pricing Analyst
Experience: 6+ years

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pricing Analyst to develop and execute pricing strategies that drive revenue growth and enhance profitability. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of market research, cost modeling, and pricing optimization. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and senior leadership, to ensure pricing aligns with overall business objectives and market dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Pricing Strategy Development:
    • Design and implement effective pricing strategies by conducting in-depth cost modeling and competitive market research.
    • Analyze product and service value propositions to establish optimal price points for different customer segments.
  2. Data Analysis and Insights:
    • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to evaluate pricing performance and uncover trends that inform pricing decisions.
    • Develop dashboards, visualizations, and reports to present pricing trends, forecasts, and actionable recommendations.
  3. Market and Competitor Research:
    • Continuously monitor competitor pricing strategies, industry trends, and market dynamics to ensure the organization remains competitive.
    • Identify opportunities for pricing adjustments based on external and internal market conditions.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with sales and marketing teams to align pricing strategies with business objectives and promotional campaigns.
    • Collaborate with product development teams to evaluate the financial impact of new product launches or updates.
  5. Optimization and Monitoring:
    • Lead pricing optimization efforts, using advanced analytical techniques to maximize profitability and market share.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of pricing strategies and implement adjustments as needed to maintain market relevance.
  6. Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Prepare detailed pricing reports, including performance metrics, competitor insights, and strategic recommendations, for senior leadership.
    • Present findings and proposals in a clear, data-driven manner to support decision-making.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  1. Price Optimization and Market Research:
    • Expertise in analyzing market trends and consumer behavior to develop data-driven pricing models.
    • Strong knowledge of pricing methodologies, elasticity modeling, and revenue management principles.
  2. Proficiency in Financial Modeling and Pricing Tools:
    • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling techniques to assess cost structures, pricing scenarios, and profitability.
    • Hands-on experience with pricing tools and software such as PROS, Vendavo, or Zilliant.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and data analysis platforms.
  3. Strong Analytical and Quantitative Skills:
    • Ability to interpret complex data sets, using statistical and mathematical methods, to draw actionable insights.
    • Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Excel (including advanced formulas and macros), SQL, Python, R, or SAS for data analysis.
    • Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to present findings in a meaningful way.
  4. Business Acumen and Strategic Thinking:
    • Strong understanding of the relationship between pricing, revenue, and customer behavior.
    • Ability to balance profitability goals with customer satisfaction and market competitiveness.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present complex analyses to non-technical audiences.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  6. Attention to Detail and Problem-Solving:
    • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in pricing analyses and reports.
    • Proven ability to solve complex pricing challenges using a structured, logical approach.
  7. Education and Certifications:
    • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
    • Relevant certifications, such as Certified Pricing Professional (CPP) or Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP), are a plus.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proven track record in developing pricing strategies for diverse industries or products.
  • Experience in managing dynamic pricing models in competitive or rapidly changing markets.
  • Knowledge of subscription pricing, SaaS models, or e-commerce pricing strategies is an added advantage.
