Frontier Business Systems - L3 Linux Engineer - CentOS/Ubuntu (5-8 yrs)

Job Description :

Key Responsibilities :

- Provide advanced, expert-level troubleshooting and support for complex Linux issues in production and development environments.

- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (CentOS, Ubuntu, RHEL, etc.) ensuring their reliability and performance.

- Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or shell scripting to streamline system configurations, deployments, and management tasks.

- Implement and enforce Linux system security policies, patching, and vulnerability management in compliance with best practices.

- Monitor and tune system performance, including resource management (CPU, memory, disk, network), to ensure systems operate at peak efficiency.

- Handle and resolve high-priority incidents escalated from lower-level engineers, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on business operations.

- Oversee system upgrades, security patches, and firmware updates, coordinating with various teams to ensure a smooth process.

- Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation on configurations, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures.

- Work closely with developers, network engineers, security teams, and other IT staff to troubleshoot issues, deploy solutions, and enhance infrastructure.

- Utilize enterprise-level monitoring and alerting systems (e., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus) to ensure proactive resolution of potential system issues before they impact production.

- Plan, test, and execute disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.

- Provide after-hours on-call support as part of a rotating shift schedule.

Skills and Qualifications :

Experience :

- 5+ years of experience in Linux administration, preferably in large-scale environments.

- Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex system and network issues.

- Proven experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) and associated tools.

Technical Skills :

- Deep understanding of Linux file systems, networking, and system internals.

- Proficient with scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl, etc.) for automation and system management.

- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet.

- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

- Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.

- Knowledge of security practices including hardening, SSL, encryption, and vulnerability scanning.

- Familiarity with log management tools like ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Splunk, or similar.

Certifications : Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Linux+, or equivalent certifications preferred.
