Engineering Lead

Role & responsibilities

The Engineering Lead is responsible for overseeing their application portfolio within the organization. This role includes managing the portfolio's licensing and support budget, ensuring the applications' lifecycle management, maintaining knowledge management systems, and ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will also review technical solutions, provide mentorship to engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and contribute to solutioning processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Application Portfolio Ownership:
• Manage and oversee the organization's application portfolio, ensuring alignment with business goals and IT strategies.
• Track and report on application performance, usage, and value to the business.
2. Portfolio License/Support Budget:
• Develop and manage the budget for application licenses and support, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial constraints.
• Negotiate with vendors and manage license agreements and renewals.
3. Application Lifecycle Management:
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of applications from inception through to decommissioning.
• Ensure applications are updated, maintained, and replaced as necessary to meet business needs.
4. Knowledge Management:
• Maintain and enhance knowledge management systems related to the application portfolio.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and documentation of application processes and best practices.
5. Security & Compliance for Portfolio Apps:
• Ensure all applications comply with internal security policies, external regulations, and industry standards.
• Manage application security audits and ensure prompt resolution of any identified issues.
6. Solutioning & Review of Technical Solution Documentation:
• Review and provide feedback on technical solution documentation to ensure quality and alignment with business requirements.
• Participate in solutioning sessions to provide insights and recommendations based on application portfolio knowledge.
7. Mentoring Engineering SMEs:
• Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering SMEs to support their professional development and ensure consistency across the application portfolio.
• Foster a collaborative environment to share knowledge and best practices.
8. Vendor Management:
• Establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with vendors to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and problem resolution. This involves negotiating contracts, addressing performance issues, and ensuring that the vendor meets agreed-upon service levels and quality standards.
• Regularly assess vendor performance against contractual obligations and key performance indicators (KPIs). This includes conducting performance reviews, analyzing delivery metrics, and implementing improvement plans to ensure that vendors consistently meet or exceed expectations.

Preferred candidate profile

Experience with Customer experience with Sales force/Blue Yonder / IBM sterling

Experienced with solutioning, integration & implementation.
