The Business Development Manager works to achieve portfolio and financial growth for solar projects. Development by identifying, optimizing, negotiating, closing, and then developing new solar project opportunities in the India and Middle East development pipeline.
The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to identify project development opportunities in the Solar/ Wind Energy domain. This requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, a deep understanding of the strategic direction and implications of new technology, an awareness of the company's competitors, the project development process, and disciplined project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prospect for potential greenfield and brownfield solar projects, including co-development opportunities.
- Develop a deep understanding, and identify the future trends, of the utility, commercial and industrial renewable energy market segments.
- Ensure a deep understanding of all project selection criteria including, but not limited to, land availability, land use, permitting requirements, transmission infrastructure, regulatory environment, utility cooperation, margins, etc.
- Develop a deep understanding of the Clients' interests, needs, and conditions. Recommend co-development partners and contractual structure to ensure organizational alignment and successful project outcome.
- Develop and execute the strategy for negotiation with clients.
- Develop and execute a strategy for project stakeholder analysis, feedback, and risk mitigation.
- Lead the project management process internal and external to efficiently and effectively focus resources to meet stated project objectives.
- Work with the team to develop proposals that speaks to our client's needs, concerns, and objectives.
- Support those in the organization responsible site design and layout, pricing, valuations, etc. around assigned project opportunities.
- Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
- Forecast project development targets and responsibilities. Utilize a project management checklist to ensure tasks, objectives and timelines are met.
- Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
- Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
- Understand the company's goal and purpose to continuously enhance the company's performance.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree program in Business, Marketing, and Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years' experience in sales support or similar field marketing roles is required. Experience marketing or selling is preferred.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong presentation skills preferred.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Initiative: Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to take initiative.
- Adaptability: Able to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Sales Aptitude: Demonstrated interest in sales and a desire to pursue a career in the field.
- Event Management: Proven ability to manage event details and execute on-site requirements in collaboration with marketing team(s) ahead of event.
