Academic Counsellor

As an Academic Counsellor, you will play a critical role in providing guidance and support to students, helping them navigate the challenges of higher education and ensuring their success both academically and personally. You will be part of a supportive and dynamic team, working towards the common goal of nurturing and empowering the next generation of leaders in their respective fields.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Providing one-on-one academic counselling to students, helping them explore their interests, set academic goals, and develop effective study habits.
2. Assisting students in course selections, program planning, and academic support services, ensuring they meet the requirements for graduation.
3. Monitoring and evaluating students academic progress, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing intervention strategies as needed.
4. Collaborating with faculty, administration, and other support services to address individual student needs and provide a holistic approach to academic success.
5. Leading workshops, seminars, and group counselling sessions on topics such as time management, study skills, and stress management.
6. Maintaining accurate records of student interactions, academic plans, and progress reports, and providing regular updates to university leadership and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills:

- A Bachelors degree in education, counselling, psychology, or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in academic advising, counselling, or a related field in an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on student-centered support.
- Knowledge of academic policies, curriculum requirements, and university resources.
- Familiarity with relevant software and student information systems.
