Job Title: Media Liaison Officer

Location: Chandigarh University, Lucknow Campus

Key Responsibilities:

1. Media Relations Management:
   
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, and influencers to promote the university's image and initiatives.
• Serve as the main point of contact for all media inquiries (print, broadcast, online).
• Handle media requests for information, interviews, and press releases.
2. Press Releases and Communication Materials:
   
• Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, articles, and media statements about university events, achievements, research, and academic developments.
• Coordinate with the universitys departments to gather relevant information and update the media on university activities.
3. Crisis Communication:
   
• Support the university's crisis communication strategy by quickly responding to media inquiries during sensitive situations and ensuring consistent messaging.
• Manage negative publicity or reputational risks by working with university leadership.
4. Media Coverage and Monitoring:
   
• Track and analyze media coverage of the university and its activities, including digital and social media platforms.
• Prepare regular reports on media mentions and trends to help assess the effectiveness of media relations strategies.
• Provide feedback and insights to the university's leadership team regarding public perception.
5. Event Promotion:
   
• Promote university events, conferences, guest lectures, and other initiatives through media outreach.
• Coordinate media presence at university events and ensure positive media coverage.
6. Content Creation:
   
• Collaborate with the universitys communication team to create content that can be shared with the media and on the university's official channels (social media, website).
• Assist in crafting speeches, articles, and op-eds by faculty members and key university personnel.
7. Brand Building and Advocacy:
   
• Assist in developing and maintaining the university's brand image by crafting compelling narratives around academic achievements, student success stories, and community engagement.
• Promote the universitys achievements through media interviews, features, and press interactions.
8. Training and Media Coaching:
   
• Provide media training and guidance to faculty, staff, and university leaders to prepare them for media interactions.
• Organize workshops on public speaking and media relations for key stakeholders within the university.

Qualifications:

• Educational Requirements:
  
• A Bachelors or Masters degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related field.
• Additional certifications in media relations, public relations, or digital marketing are a plus.
• Experience:
  
• 4-9 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or communications, preferably within an educational institution or corporate environment.
• Previous experience in handling media coverage, press releases, and interviews is essential.
• Skills:
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging media materials.
• Good understanding of social media platforms and digital content strategies.
• Crisis communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of current trends in media, public relations, and journalism.

Work Environment:

• The Media Liaison Officer will be expected to work within the university’s Communication and Public Relations Department and interact with faculty, administrative staff, and external stakeholders.
