IBM DB2 Developer - Design & Implementation (6-12 yrs)

Position : IBM DB2 Developer

Experience : 6-12 years

Location : Bangalore / Mumbai

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance IBM DB2 databases and applications.

- Implement and optimize database queries, stored procedures, triggers, and other database components to ensure performance, scalability, and security.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, and deliver solutions that meet business and technical needs.

- Conduct database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.

- Perform regular database backups, restore, and disaster recovery operations.

- Work with data architects and other developers to implement efficient data models and improve database design.

- Monitor and manage DB2 database health, availability, and performance metrics.

- Implement best practices for database management and adhere to industry standards.

- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 6-12 years of hands-on experience working with IBM DB2 databases (DB2 LUW, DB2 z/OS).

- Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers in DB2.

- Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.

- Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

- Experience in managing large-scale databases and ensuring high availability.

- Proficiency in database design, including normalization, indexing, and data modeling.

- Knowledge of database security practices and compliance standards.

- Strong understanding of data replication, clustering, and failover mechanisms.

- Familiarity with DB2 administrative tools (e.g., DB2 Control Center, DB2 Command Line Processor).

- Experience with other database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, etc.) is a plus.

- Good understanding of Linux/Unix or Windows server environments.

- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desired Skills :

- Experience with IBM DB2 on Cloud (DB2 hosted on cloud platforms).

- Knowledge of automation tools for database management and deployment.

- Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Education :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
