DRI - Control Room Operator

Job role - A Control Room Operator (CRO) in a DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) plant is responsible for monitoring and controlling the entire production process from a central control room, ensuring safe and efficient operation by adjusting parameters like temperature, feed rates, and gas flow to maintain optimal product quality while adhering to safety regulations and production targets, utilizing a Distributed Control System (DCS) and other instrumentation to manage the various stages of the DRI process.

Designation:- Jr. Engineer/ Engineer

Qualification:  Diploma in Metallurgy /Mechanical/Production/ Instrumentation

No. of Experience: 5-10 Years

Age:  25-32 yrs

KRA

1. Maintaining weigh feeder calibration records
2. Controlling kiln zone temperatures by measuring QRTs
3. Maintaining operation parameters to obtain good product quality
4. Maintaining all process records
5. Preparing prod reports/raw material entry in sap
6. Maintaining good coordination with other departments
7. Maintaining safe operating practices
8. Target to achieve minimum breakdown
9. Criticalities like Kiln Hold, shutdown TC jam, an inspection of the kiln, feed loses by jamming, and in other problems.
10. Capable to handle PLC Operation and Maintenance works.

Technical Skills

1. DCS Operation: Proficient in operating a Distributed Control System (DCS) used in the DRI plant, understanding its functionalities and programming logic. 
2. Instrumentation Knowledge: Familiarity with various process instrumentation like temperature sensors, pressure gauges, flow meters, gas analyzers, and their applications in the DRI process. 
3. Basic Metallurgy Understanding: A fundamental understanding of the DRI process, including the chemical reactions involved, the impact of different parameters on product quality, and the stages of reduction.
