Job Description: Quality Control (QC) Head - Road Projects

Position Title: QC Head - Road Projects

Department: Quality Control / Engineering

Job Summary:

The QC Head for Road Projects is responsible for overseeing the quality control activities throughout the road construction project. This role involves ensuring that the project is executed in compliance with the highest quality standards, codes, and specifications. The QC Head will manage and lead the QC team, conduct inspections, ensure proper testing of materials, and work closely with other stakeholders to maintain the quality of all project deliverables. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in civil engineering and road construction, combined with excellent leadership and management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Control Management:

• Lead the quality control operations for all road construction activities, including subgrades, pavements, bridges, and other infrastructure components.
• Develop, implement, and maintain the projects quality management plan and procedures in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Establish and monitor quality metrics to ensure compliance with the projects technical requirements and quality standards.
• Review and approve material submittals, testing procedures, and inspection schedules.

2. Team Leadership and Coordination:

• Supervise, mentor, and lead a team of QC engineers, technicians, and inspectors to ensure the effective implementation of quality control processes.
• Coordinate with project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to identify and resolve quality-related issues.
• Organize and provide ongoing training to ensure the QC team is up to date with current industry standards and best practices.

3. Inspections and Testing:

• Conduct and oversee inspections of construction activities, materials, and processes at various stages to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Ensure all required tests (e.g., material testing, compaction tests, concrete strength tests, etc.) are carried out as per the project plan.
• Review and interpret laboratory test results, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions when necessary.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, non-conformance reports, and quality control procedures.
• Prepare regular quality control reports for project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory bodies, and senior management.
• Monitor the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to resolve non-compliance and quality issues.

5. Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:

• Establish and enforce a system for continuous improvement, identifying areas where processes can be optimized for better quality performance.
• Perform root cause analysis for quality failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct internal audits and assist in external audits to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.

6. Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure that all construction activities adhere to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines.
• Participate in safety meetings and enforce safety standards to minimize risks associated with construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations during the construction process.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Certifications in Quality Management (e.g., ISO 9001) or other relevant industry qualifications are highly desirable.

Experience:

• Minimum of 20 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within the civil engineering and road construction industry.
• Leading quality control teams on large-scale road or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and equipment used in road projects.
• Familiarity with local and international construction standards and codes (ASTM, AASHTO, ISO, etc.).
