Job Title: Deputy Manager - Project Management

Job Purpose:
The Deputy Manager - Project Management will be responsible for end-to-end project management, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of projects within agreed timelines and budgets. This role requires strong cross-functional coordination with internal teams (R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain) and external partners to ensure smooth execution of product development and technology transfer projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution:
- Manage the entire project lifecycle, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, and close-out.
- Handle change management processes to accommodate evolving project requirements.
Cross-functional Coordination:
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams for seamless new product development, scale-up, and plant fitment.
- Ensure effective coordination between internal stakeholders and external partners.
Stakeholder Communication & Issue Resolution:
- Regularly interact with Functional Heads and the Head of Operations to address critical project issues.
- Proactively identify resource gaps and work with leadership to resolve them, ensuring timely project delivery.
Performance Tracking:
- Maintain an On Time In Full (OTIF) target of >95% across all projects.
- Implement robust project tracking mechanisms and ensure timely escalations when needed.
Reporting & Senior Management Reviews:
- Conduct periodic project reviews and update senior management on project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
Project Management Office (PMO) Setup:
- Establish a Project Management Office (PMO) within the organization, driving adoption of standard project methodologies across all initiatives.
- Define project governance processes, review mechanisms, and closure protocols.
Team Development:
- Build and mentor a high-performance project management team with strong scientific and technical capabilities.
- Drive capability-building initiatives to strengthen the team's functional expertise.
External Partner Management:
- Oversee projects executed at external partner sites, ensuring seamless communication and alignment with internal stakeholders.
Talent Management:
- Hire, retain, and develop best-in-class talent within the Project Management function to enhance organizational capabilities.
Business & Technology Transfer:
- Ensure effective management of technology transfer and business transition projects, with a clear focus on timelines, cost control, and service levels.
Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure all project activities comply with Manufacturing Supply Agreements and align with client expectations.
Process Improvement:
- Apply existing project management processes and proactively suggest areas for continuous improvement.
Escalation Management:
- Promptly escalate critical project issues to senior management and any personnel matters to functional management for timely resolution.
Key Skills & Competencies:

- Strong problem-solving and risk management capabilities
- Team leadership and mentoring skills
- Experience with setting up or working in a PMO environment preferred
- Knowledge of product development life cycle (especially in manufacturing/R&D-intensive environments)
- Familiarity with project management tools and software
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, or related field.
- PMP/PRINCE2 certification is an advantage.
