About The Role : We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis 1- Tandoor Cuisine to join our culinary team in Mysuru, India. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will specialize in tandoor cooking techniques and contribute to the preparation of authentic Indian cuisine.
Assist the Chef de Partie in the tandoor section of the kitchen
Prepare and cook various tandoor dishes, including breads, meats, and vegetables
Maintain and operate the tandoor oven, ensuring proper temperature control and cooking times
Follow recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency in food quality and presentation
Assist in the preparation of marinades, spice blends, and accompaniments for tandoor dishes
Collaborate with other kitchen sections to ensure timely food service
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
Participate in kitchen inventory management and stock rotation
Assist in menu development and the creation of new tandoor dishes
Support senior kitchen staff in daily operations and special events
Qualifications
Diploma in Culinary Arts or equivalent culinary education preferred
Previous experience in a professional kitchen, particularly with Indian cuisine, is advantageous
Proficiency in tandoor oven operation and cooking techniques
Strong knife skills and knowledge of various Indian spices and ingredients
Understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and relevant health regulations
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and work in a hot kitchen environment
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
Familiarity with local Mysuru ingredients and cooking styles is a plus
