Job Title: AM - Packaging Excellence

About the Role

The Assistant Manager - Packaging Excellence will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and implementation of innovative and cost-effective packaging solutions. This role focuses on driving efficiency, sustainability, and product safety through superior packaging strategies. The manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure that packaging solutions align with business goals and enhance customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Packaging Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive packaging strategy that balances cost, sustainability, and functionality.
• Innovation & Design: Lead packaging design projects that meet operational and commercial needs while ensuring compliance with environmental standards and regulations.
• Sustainability Initiatives: Implement eco-friendly packaging solutions to reduce waste, optimize material usage, and support the companys sustainability goals.
• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with packaging suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of quality packaging materials.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, product development, and supply chain teams to ensure packaging solutions meet all functional requirements and are aligned with product specifications.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all packaging solutions maintain product integrity, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
• Cost Management: Identify opportunities for cost reduction through material optimization, process improvements, and efficient supply chain management.
• Process Improvement: Continuously review and enhance packaging processes to improve performance, reduce defects, and enhance operational efficiency.
• Market Research & Trends: Stay updated on the latest trends, materials, and technologies in the packaging industry to keep the companys offerings competitive.
• Project Management: Lead packaging development projects from concept to execution, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in packaging design and management, preferably in the FMCG, e-commerce, or consumer goods sectors.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of packaging materials, processes, and machinery. Familiarity with sustainable packaging practices.

Key Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
• Project Management Skills: Proven track record of managing large-scale packaging projects from inception to completion.
• Communication & Leadership: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to work with cross-functional teams and manage supplier relationships.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to address packaging challenges creatively while maintaining product integrity and cost-efficiency.
• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to ensure packaging meets both aesthetic and functional requirements.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with sustainable packaging practices and materials.
• Knowledge of packaging compliance regulations and industry standards.
• Familiarity with packaging software for design and modeling (e.g., ArtiosCAD, CAPE, TOPS).
• Experience working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
