Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: they wanted to judge your technical skills

Round: HR Interview
Experience: They were interested in knowing about your attitude

College Name: IIT Madras

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Interview
Tips: Most of the technical interviews revolve around the projects and internships done and they check how thorough you are with themIt also helps to know other basic engineering topics like strength of materials, FEM, etc.If you are not comfortable in any subject, you can always build on the ones that you are good at. You will be evaluated on your depth in your chosen subjectBe ready for technical questions, basics in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, structures, etc. Go through the basic core courses

Round: Interview
Tips: The HR round for ETLP primarily tried to see how the candidate deals with conflicts in the team which he may be leading. This they do by telling the candidate to recount stories from life where they either learned something, or had to implement a solution which didn't work, or had to settle a dispute and so onQuestions might be about any times you went against authority, when you had a bad relationship with someone and how you sorted it out, strengths, weaknesses, etc. There are standard convincing, sometimes untruthful, redundant answers. Avoid them, it makes things much simpler

General Tips: 1.Write down all the possible questions and answers in a note and keep browsing it. It varies from person to person. Some people can speak their mind well without having a written material.2.It's also important that the candidate be in control of where the interview is going so that he can bring it to his strong points.3.Project matching their profile.4.Communication skills. With experience, one learns how to speak to managers, what they expect, etc.5.Have a very good idea of who you are and what you want.6.Stay calm and confident. Know very well about the company and prepare with the attitude that this isn't your last resort, but with humility and seriousness. They can easily identify over confidence and carefree attitude and might result in rejection. This is true for mech. core companies. They prefer hard working, organized and disciplined people.
Skill Tips: Brush through the projects done and also refresh basic engineering subjects like strength of materials, detail design, basic elec, etc.Focus on courses that you really like and know them in and out. Speaking with confidence really helps

College Name: IIT-Delhi

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Fairly lengthy discussion on the six month intern. Other questions also mainly about projects done.
Tips: Clear understanding of work done in intern.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Asked to site instances where... 'You showed your leadership skills'. 'Had a difference of opinion with mentor/manager at intern', 'you formed a good friendship with someone'...

They shortlisted about 25-30 people for interviews. Cg (>8.2) was definitely a criteria. I think having projects in fem or control systems helped. Not mandatory though.
Tips: Good communication skills.

For core: Know your projects inside-out. Revise fundamentals of some basic courses (strength of materials, control systems, fem).

College Name: IIT Madras

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: There was only a resume based selection. And it seemed they looked into the projects which were done.

The HR interview consisted of many questions where one had to "recount" stories from the past.
Tips: I feel I was selected mainly for the projects and internships (mainly the six month internship). It’s also important that the candidate be in control of where the interview is going so that he can bring it to his strong points.

Go through the projects done and know them inside-out.

General Tips: Look through important formulae and theory section. For core, be thorough with basic core fundamentals. It may help in an interview.
