Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Test was a little long according to the time allotted, but that's part of the challenge.
Tips: Revise basic mathematical concepts, like geometry and puzzles. Work on vocabulary, which was slightly below GRE level.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The moderator actively participated in the discussion, starting with outlining the broad topics of discussion, pointed out by the candidates themselves. He then proceeded with 2-3 minutes discussion on each of the 8 topics.
Tips: Stay in touch with the developments of the e-commerce industry and the business model of the company.
Duration: 30 minutes

Round: Guesstimate Interview
Experience: Standard HR questions and guesstimates are asked. Assessment of the candidate is done and the feedback is forwarded. Unlike a stress interview, the atmosphere was very relaxed, with the conversation often venturing into informal areas.
Tips: Try to put forth your best front, and focus on the best points in your CV.

Round: Guesstimate Interview
Experience: One question was asked, which involved making estimates of the practical, day to day functioning of the company, on topics ranging from finances, work force, strategy etc.
Tips: Knowledge of logistics and working off start ups will help.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Regular hr questions like tell about ur self,hobbies,strengths,any team activities, about paper presented and questions on that, questions on leadership qualities, asked to talk about 'conservation of energy' for few minutes, asked abouts functions or events organised.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: knowledge assessment
Experience: The first round was an online assessment of your knowledge in any of the three languages (C , C++, Java ).
Tips: Although they specify the syllabus but don't just rely on that.

Round: Interview
Experience: Second round was a HR + Technical interview.
The HR was combined with Technical interview in which they asked about the basic HR questions. The technical interview included a few basic questions on C or C++ programming and a few questions relating to the technicalities of the projects we did in our internships and Hobbies club..
Tips: Be well prepared for HR questions. Listen to the PPT carefully .

Round: IQ test
Experience: The third round was a simple IQ test. Be well versed with the language of your choice.

General Tips: The online test can be tackled if you study the first year alloted assigned book for the language you prefer. Having chosen C++ I was asked many questions related to templates and data structures.

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Candidates with CG equal to or higher than 8.0 were selected.

Round: Test
Experience: It was divided in 2 sets of 45 minutes each.
Coding: To write a function to find if a string is palindrome or not. 
Verbal+quant: These were CAT model questions.
Duration: 90 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: There were 2 rounds of this interview. Both were HR and questions based on resume and some general questions were asked.
Tips: I think I was selected because of my CG, coding skills and communication skills.

General Tips: If you're preparing for core, make sure you start revising your subjects soon. Keep your notes and concentrate on structures.
Skill Tips: I started my preparations in November by going through case study material available in lan and solving CAT questions.

Round: Test
Experience: This test itself had 3-4 tests. 1st test was Aptitude+ English. One test purely had like unseen passages...Objective questions.
Duration: 150 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: 2nd round : there were two panels, one asked only technical questions and the other technical +HR
(whatever you had written on the form [provided by L&T]). 

Mine was the second panel. From thermodynamics - laws of thermodynamics, fluid- turbines, latest news headlines, some solid mechanics questions, iron-phase diagrams, hobbies.... was asked about each and every word written on that form.

Round: Interview
Experience: 30-40 min. pure HR. He asked me various case studies. They totally analysed a persons behaviour.

General Tips: Only technical knowledge won't do any good, prepare for HR also.

Round: Test
Experience: 4 modules :
1. Computer Programing :- Code is given,we need to find output, basic questions in Java, C, Data Structures, DBMS.
2. Quantitative Aptitude :- Easy, Basics in Simple Interest, Profit&Loss, Numbers, Logs, Time and Work, Time Speed Distance, Prob, Perm&Comb.
3. Logical Reasoning :- Blood relations, Directions, Data sufficiency, Puzzle, Arrangements (circular & linear).
4. English :- Fill in appropriate meaning, Antonyms, Synonyms, Arrange the sentences, and 2 huge paragraphs (4+4=8 questions).

Out of 2000 members 400 were selected. I'm one among them.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: After 2 days I received mail from HCL (offer letter and letter of intent).
Tips: HR round is to test our communication only..

Tips: There are no much tips, Just be good with the English language.

Tips: Know about the company well before you attend any interview.

Experience: The versant exam was of 6 rounds which was all about the communication skills and spontaneous answers to the question given ending with a specified length Email writing.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: 1) BBG shipping has experience of turning around two companies and is one of the largest companies in this segement



2) City shipping is largest private company into ship repair and ship breaking but not in similar segment.



3) Sonyo shipping is one of the oldest shipping company and has various businesses related this. It is looking forward to expand in china and India and looking forward to expand and acquire some ship breaking company to create a low cost base.



Bids are:



BBG: 100% of debt for seven years 9% interest pa



City: 90% of debt for seven years 10% interest pa



Sonyo: 85% of debt for five years 13% interest pa



As a manager you have to take decision. Your senior has called up to look for bid of City and this will help to build relationship with city. The bank already has relationship with BBG. What will you recommend?

Round: HR Interview
Experience: I can’t say I was 100% right in all my answers but I tried to simplify every answer. I knew my CV very well and was able to anticipate questions like why less marks.

General Tips: Through knowledge of sectors and other fin subjects. Was confident as I had prepared well for the interview. In GD one has to contribute 2-3 good points that was sufficient. There were people who remained silent but contributed even 1 good point were selected for interview atleast. In interview they gauge your fitment wrt role and their core values.
