Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - A long read because it was one of it's worst type of interview for a Senior Position.

A consultancy called me to get my details for DGM - Product Tech at Godrej Capital. After basic discussions, HR called directly to schedule the first round. The FIRST Virtual round on Teams. The questions were weird but somehow I managed and cleared. Why somehow because in the position offered was a strategic position as per my personal assessment for my future career growth.
Step 1: Teams Round (1 Hour)
Step 2: Face to Face Round (1 Hour)
Step 3: Assignment 1
Step 4: Assignment 2
Step 5: Verbal Non verbal Reasoning Online Test
Step 6: Numerical Ability Online Test
Step 7: Psychometric Online Test
Step 8: Virtual Interview with HOD (1 Hour)

For Steps 5 to 7 - I was informed that passing rate is only 5%. I know I passed with flying color which manager was saying how do I know. I answered, I know because, I solved it in my book and I have steps which I verified later also post assessment.

For Step 9, suddenly HR called me to inform that
1/ because I belong to a different domain they don't want to give me DGM grade, instead they want to lower it to one grade down to Manager. When I encountered that you knew it from day 1, then they changed their stance and said the following
2/ after changing their stance they said, Management has decided to lower the grade (no specific reasons).

Hiring Manager called me multiple times convincing me to join on the Manager grade, but I said I can negotiate in Salary (give me a few lakh less) but DGM Grade is Non-negotiable.

They wanted to Lower the salary, lower the Grade and wanted me to shift near office (rent 40k/month at least - just to give you an idea, to pay the rent of 40k per month, you need to earn 8 Lakh in CTC Pre Tax). I checked with ex-Godrej Capital the work life balance is not good. All I knew but was ready to join because the initial offer they were making was aligned to my career goal.

After all these efforts, HR didn't discuss with me anything professionally and as usual HR never returned my call SMS to discuss it further and it was ended on the unfortunate note.
