The case given to us was about a company that had the production capacity, the technology, the raw material availability and the pull in the market to sell - but lacking in the drive from the employees to aspire, stretch and set higher goals to grow. They were always in the syndrome of what resources they did not have rather than leveraging what they had. As a Functional HR Consultant we were asked to suggest real, on ground actionable remedies, that could be implemented, not just discussed.
Gamifying the work environment by educating all employees on "what is in it for me (WIIFM)".
Implementation of the Balanced Score Card for goal setting, KRAs, KPIs, weekly reviews, celebrating every milestone of success and doing a root cause analysis for what went wrong on every milestone missed.
My answer was simple. In today's e-work environment the need for physical presence has become minimal. Work does continue, and equally effectively, from distance also with the correct and effective application of technology.
