Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: based on the ur resume prepartion

General Tips: This interview was a technical one but was majorly a stress test. It lasted for about 1 hour 10 minutes. The interviewer wanted to test both my knowledge and communication skills. Most of the questions asked to me were related to my B.Tech curriculum i.e. computer science related topics. He stressed a lot on the basics related to my project topic. Luckily I was able to answer most of the questions correctly. I tried to answer each question with examples and also used props on the table (like pens, paperweights, pen stands etc.) to explain my theories. It was my first offcampus interview, and I think I did pretty well for a fresher.
You need to stay calm and should apply presence of mind. Please go through the job description thoroughly word-by-word and recheck your resume to ensure that you are a best-fit for the position.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Interview
Experience: The interviewer also said: "It seems like you are more interested in finance and BCG is only the second option. We don’t like being the second option." All these questions required some delicate handling.

Round: Interview
Experience: This was a sort of stress interview because the interviewer seemed disinterested and dissatisfied with everything i said and kept on demanding for more while impressing that whatever I am coming up with was really of no significance.
Tips: What worked in my favor was I dint get flustered by his attitude, kept smiling and working at the problem objectively. When I would come to the end of one line of thinking and would have no more answers to his “What next” I would frankly tell him that and ask him in return for more suggestions. It resulted in him complimenting my way of thinking at the end and saying that I was one of the best and most practical candidates that he had interviewed that day.

Round: Interview
Experience: 1. Both the above questions were the part of one interview.
2. The interviewer didn't want me to solve the case fully in either instance. He just wanted to see my structure and evaluate my thinking process.

Round: Interview
Experience: Almost all my interviews went well with BCG except the last VC one, because by then I was complete drained out and could hardly think. I also did some minor silly mistakes in a couple of the smaller cases while dealing with numbers, but otherwise everyone seemed to appreciate my structuring of the cases. Some of the interviewers also delved into the HR side frequently.

College Name: IIT KANPUR

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Everyone with a GPA of more than 7 was allowed to appear for an objective online test which was held a day before the interviews. Test comprised of 3 sections: Verbal, Quantitative and Technical.Verbal and Quantitative sections were not very difficult. They were a bit lengthy though, which makes speed an important factor. Technical section comprised of basic questions most of which were conceptual or directly formula based.
Tips: Don’t leave any question as there was no negative marking. Revise basic concepts and formulas, preferably from any GATE book.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: One round of personal interview which consisted of both technical and HR questions.Technical questions related to projects/internships. Questions related to various manufacturing processes. HR questions like where do you see yourself 5 years down the line, why don’t you go for an MBA or higher studies, what kind of a job are you looking for?
Tips: Just be yourself. Admit if you don’t know the answer to a question. Politely ask them the answer to show that you are curious. Think of a few questions about the company which you’d like to ask at the end of the interview.

General Tips: The CGPA criteria set by the company to be eligible for placement was 7 and above. Most of the students who were finally selected had a CGPA of more than 8 but a few 7 pointers were also selected. So a good GPA would definitely help but it is not the only thing that they look for. A few positions of responsibility on your CV is always good though as it gives the interviewer something to talk about apart from the academics. You would be asked about your projects and internships in great detail. Make sure to prepare them well before the interview.
