Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Generally, the people with a CPI of 8+ were shortlisted, with a little importance to other CV points.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The GD was of 30 minutes. First 5 minutes were meant to have a look on the details and topic of discussion. Next 20 minutes to discuss. And last 5 minutes to conclude.Generally, the topic goes on like:" An airplane crashed in Amazon forests. The passengers have to move on themselves to find their way out of the jungle. 15 things are available on the plane. The list goes on as: rope, matchbox, machete, compass, water-bottle, medicine, kerosene, candies, etc. Put the above listed things in decreasing order of their priority." A group of 5 to 6 people were taken for each GD. I passed the GD round. It mostly depends on how much you can speak and lead the discussion in your direction. 4 out of 6 were selected from our group. The reason was that we got a conclusion of our discussion which went on to show our team work.
Tips: Tips:
1) Try to start the GD yourself. it shows your leadership quality.
2) Never start speaking when someone is already speaking. Keep the discussion a healthy one, and don't turn it into an arguement.
3) Speak logical points. Don't speak rubbish just for the sake of speaking.
4) Don't be too gullible. Take a stand and maintain it as far as it is reasonable.
5) Don't just speak. Try to involve all the people in discussion and 'explain' your points to them to convince them. That again shows how good a team leader you will be.
6) Be presentable.
Duration: 30 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: It went for about 40 minutes. With the start of the interview I had to introduce myself. I told them about my general life and my inclination towars electrical subjects. They asked about my 2nd year internship project. Then they moved on to electrical sciences, where there were some basic to analytical questions. They took an experiment which I did lately and asked on the detailed concepts involved. All in all it was quite a chill interview.
Tips: 1) If you tell a subject as a favourite, make sure you know about it.
2) Telling about yourself is the perfect opportunity to turn the interview to your side. If you like a particular subject, mention how you came to like it, Mention something interesting which you did using that subject. If you have done an interesting project, mention it in details, so that the interviewer focuses in that only for the next 15 minutes.
3) Don't try to fool them. They know better.
4) Be thourough with your resume.

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: This was the final round. Around 10 students were shortlisted from 300 for this round. The entire process was overnight, and our turn came in the morning. I had passed upto this round. The questions were typical HR ones. After this, 3 out of 10 were selected for internship at ITC. I couldn't go through.
Tips: 1) There are lots of HR questions available on internet which will prep you for this round.
2) Just a calm mind and knowing what you have to speak will take you through.
