Round: Group Discussion Experience: The process started on 30th night with the GD for Credit Suisse. It was in groups of 8, duration 10 mins, the topics were common knowledge like entrepreneurship in India, FDI etc and though knowing and reading current news would be an advantage, but nevertheless you can do good with good presence of mind. My group’s topic was entrepreneurship in India and I knew nothing about it. Initially I was worried that I would not have anything to speak. But during the course of the discussion, lots of ideas kept coming to me as people started speaking randomly on the topic. Though I could speak only 2-3 times in the discussion but I made sure that I had substantive points and that I was clearly stating them. I think that was what got me through it.
Round: Puzzle interview Experience: In their 1st, they asked the same beginning questions on resume, spent some time on my intern work moving on to 2 puzzles and then end. It was short and went really well according to me. Therefore, probably, I was directly forwarded for a 2nd round.
Round: TECHNICAL INTERVIEW Experience: This was a bit more technical one and seeing my intern and background in economics, they asked me questions on financial markets, current policies etc. I tried to answer some but was blank for a couple of questions as I had not prepared at all for finance.
Round: Test Experience: 15 objective questions and 2 coding questions. The objective questions were to be done in 25 minutes based on C++ and algorithms (not core subjects like OS or compilers surprisingly). 2 coding questions were: - Mirror a binary tree - Some question on bit-manipulation
Round: Technical Interview Experience: There were just 2 technical rounds: Given an array with pointers to nodes of a n-ary tree with each node containing the parent Id as well. Reconstruct the original tree from the node. Also write down what the structure of the node will look like. The second round was: write a working code to merge 2 linked lists.
Round: Form Experience: It includes few question related to your grades, projects/internship, POR, extracurricular activities and 2 or 3 HR based questions, Details are as follow:
-Few personal details specifically Semester wise SPI, GRE score etc. -Details of internship/projects, extracurricular activities, PORs etc. -Your short terms and long term objectives -Why do you want to work with ITC -What do you think is your most significant achievement -Give an instance where you put Mind Over Matter -Your social engagement
Round: Group Discussion Experience: ITC GD is based on a given case where you have to prioritize the given set of things. One GD group consist of 8 students and approximately 25 min time duration. There are 3 person to judge a single GD and hence its almost a fare GD. Tips: Please follow all the general rules of GD that is : Don’t shout, don’t be aggressive etc.
Round: Technical Interview Experience: ITC interview was scheduled on 1st December from 6 am to 11 am . My interview started with a question “Tell me something about yourself” I started with my school life and then gradually moved towards IITK life and here I described about My most significant achievement of IITK i.e. “TEAM ABUS-DCS” with the help of designs I carried in my file and there after the rest of the interview was based on TEAM ABUS-DCS projects. No extra technical question were asked to me.
Round: HR Interview Experience: My HR interview too was started with a question “Tell me something about yourself” and there were few questions about my family, school life, hobbies, and major portion of interview was focused on TEAM ABUS-DCS. I answered few of the HR questions in Hindi and this is the point where I become friendly with the interviewer and then a general conversation started about my projects and family. I was lucky to have such a smooth experience , The day was not at all hectic for me.

College Name: IIT Kanpur
Round: Technical Interview Tips: All you need is to know your resume by heart. You must be able to explain your thesis (for dual and M.Tech), your intern and key academic projects. You can also say something about your POR.
Round: HR Interview Tips: HR round is not very tough. You just have to say: why Eaton? Whether or not you're willing to relocate to Pune? Tell me something about yourself? n all. One question on topics like quote an incident of your life where you solved a conflict between two persons etc can also be asked.
General Tips: Do's : 1. Learn resume by heart (Whatever is written on it). 2. If targeting core mechanical, you should know how to implement theory to practical situations (Just see some examples of such scenarios)
Don'ts : 1. As Douglas Adams aptly said: "Don't Panic".
Round: Technical Interview Experience: Technical round was focused on the technical work I did so far and once I started explaining, I was encountered on that with some fundamental and some application based questions. At the end, I was asked about the organizational skills that I have and my preference for the profile (since there were both technical and technical leadership profiles) and with sound reasons. Eaton’s technical was like a step by step description of the technical work and I enjoyed it discussing with the panel. After around 25 minutes he introduced some part of the work from the company and I was excited to relate that to the work I was doing in the thesis and I think it went well. He gave me a nice smile and hinted me for the HR round.
Round: HR Interview Experience: The HR Round was for checking my inclination to join the company and my attitude towards the job and it went very well. I enjoyed talking with the HR interviewers and was hoping for the positive outcome. I was specifically asked about the relocation comfort to Pune and then about the team work as well.
Round: aptitude test Experience: They intimated as aptitude but it included Verbal, Quants and basics of programming and data structures & algorithm.
Round: Technical interview round 1 Experience: In this round I was asked about flight mechanics & dynamics and controls’ by giving several conditions of practical importance, some part of engine structures and thermal science, my earlier projects and questions on that, some questions from the internship’s work and M.Tech thesis work. Very fundamental as well as complex questions were asked while explaining about the projects and thesis work.
Round: technical interview round 2 Experience: I was sent to the panel interviewing for mechanical students and there I was asked questions from various subjects as well as for various conditions given on spot. Including both the technical interviews, I was asked questions from around 9-10 subjects of mechanical engineering. Apart from the questions from the course work, half of the interview was focused on the projects that I did earlier. I was asked to explain about the projects and give good insights of my contributions in that and accordingly I was asked questions from that as well. Later part of the technical round was focused for my thesis work. They started asking about the motivation behind the topic of the thesis and the technical platform set so far for the same. Concluding questions were from the company’s work and how I would be able to relate my expertise and thesis work for their benefit.
Round: HR Interview Experience: HR round was more or less usual. Description about me and weaknesses in professional life were asked. The tricky one was one particular question about joining Honeywell and at the end of my answer, I was asked to compare Honeywell and the stalwarts of aerospace industry on my answer’s ground.
General Tips: Revise the course works, some part of the projects, be focused for profiles and prepare accordingly. Prior knowledge about companies work and the profile helps a lot. Sound knowledge of thesis work, approach and the applications, motivation behind the topic and the work completed till the placement season starts should clearly be checked. If you are not good at programming and DS & algo then revise the basics of these (helps for aptitude). Be mentally prepared for multiple rounds of technical interviews. Shape yourself according to the profile and surf through the company’s site beforehand. Get some suggestions and feedback from seniors (specifically, M.tech students should talk to seniors, fellow students and lab mates who have been in industries) for technical interviews. Focus on your approach towards the problem for the worst case. During technical interview, don’t try to brag about the topic that you are not sure about. They sometimes want to test your approach and attitude for the problem given to you (which will be out of your comfort zone) rather than the accuracy of the answer. Since verbal was also the part of aptitude, don’t forget to look that during your preparation.
Round: interview Experience: I had my interview scheduled at 11 am but I got a call from the volunteer at 9am for the interview. When I reached there, they had already selected 3 students and 1 other had his 3rd or 4th round going on. I was called in and after some questions on my resume and 2-3 small puzzles it was over. Then they told me that I had no more rounds. So my interview with CS was just a formality and I didn’t care because I anyway didn’t want to join it. Tips: If you are really targeting CS, try to schedule your interview earlier by talking to the volunteer (interviews start from 6 am) or go to the interview spot as early as possible and request them to take yours earlier. This would show your interest in their company and also you’ll have a better chance (than I had) if you are good.
Round: technical test Experience: Technical test is a typical McKinsey Problem Solving Test (PST) of 1 hour.
Tips: Sample tests are easily available on the internet and doing those helps a lot in getting a clear understanding of the approach. I took all the PSTs I could find online and focused on how some specific type of questions need to be answered.
Round: aptitude test Experience: There was a 30 min aptitude test and we had to write a statement of purpose with that.
Round: interview round 1 Experience: It was kind of an HR round for me. The interviewer asked me to introduce myself first and when I said I’m from Rajasthan, the interview converted into a conversation as the interviewer was also from Rajasthan and started telling me his story, his birth place, schooling, marriage and everything (weird I know). Then we talked about which all companies’ interviews I have lined up and what is my preference. So, my first round was a normal 15 min chit chat with the interviewer.
Round: interview round 2 Experience: This was with the Head of their marketing & sales department. The lady asked me to introduce myself and then to explain any one of the projects mentioned in my resume. After I did, she seemed pretty impressed as the project was in Econometrics including regressions and related things which is the kind of knowledge they were expecting from the candidates. She in fact told me that I seemed to be the perfect match for that profile. And then she asked me some general HR questions.
Round: interview round 3 Experience: It was a technical round. There were two interviewers and they first checked my knowledge of sales and marketing terms if I know any. After I mentioned that I don’t know any of the terminologies, they explained to me some which were required to solve the case. Then I was asked to do the case which had 3 parts (it was pretty time consuming and thought provoking), first 2 parts had a sales & marketing funnel (look up for what a funnel is, they explained to me then) drawn on a paper and numbers of sales for two firms, our client and a competitor, I had to make some suggestions to improve the numbers. In 3rd part, I had to build a model to incorporate the suggestions which required knowledge of regression models. This took around 40-45 minutes and then I was asked to ask questions if I had any.
General Tips: Do’s : Be confident. Half of your battle is won already if the interviewer finds you a confident, enthusiastic candidate (this is what worked in my favour I think)
Don’ts : 1. Don’t take your resume lightly, during interviews this is the only tool which will help you drive the interview in your favour. 2. Don’t hesitate to say it out loud if you don’t know something. This will never be held against you. 3. Don’t panic. Keep calm even if you know you’re screwing the interview.
Round: preliminary interview Experience: Capital One took a preliminary interview in November to eliminate half of the candidates. It mainly evaluated your numerical abilities and communication skills. I was good at both (apti preparation helped a lot) so got selected. Next were main interviews on Day 1. I couldn’t solve the case well and was not called for the second round. However, their entire process was extremely fair.
