Vmware being a mature company you can't expect a lot of development tasks if you are a junior engineer with around 1-4 years. I feel this as a negative point because in my previous company I was working on building a product from scratch so compared to that the learnings at vmware are less.

I spent 6.5 years and there was not a single day when I hated going to office.. managers are supportive, you are allowed to put across your ideas and work on them. Learning opportunities are plenty.
