Unicef, being an organ of the United Nation Organizations, has a clear mandate of working with the children and women of the world in general and India in particular. So job security depends the type of contract a staff member holding. Work culture is quite open - there is direct interaction between the managers and workers. The management from the surface appears transparent but it appears that they are also short sighted and only identify and select candidates of their choice. The salaries could be worth respectable in comparison to the corporate world. Yes I agree that we do not produce any material holding commercial value. The organization is rather working on the development and capacities building of women and children of the country. However, there lurks a significant disappointment where career growth comes. Staff with larger experiences and with 60 plus age bracket do not have any scope for being included in the short-listings as they are considered not valuable in terms of their age and energy equilibrium. This sets in the complacency factor. A few staff members in this age group have been considering early separation from the organization as the values and ethos they hold are no more recognizable....Read More
