Good work environment and culture. Teammates are supportive and the management is transparent. There is a huge cafeteria and gaming arcade for chilling. Company policies are good, appraisals are fair and they give good salary hike and bonus every year.

Dislikes

There is a lot of politics and the management doesn’t address our issues. Salary is decent but career growth is slow. There is a bond of 2 years before which you cannot resign. On the job training is not given to new joinees.

Work Details

The job is quite interesting! I struggled a bit in the beginning as there was no formal training session. I learnt everything on the job. I got a chance to wear multiple hats and that helped me get a taste of different roles within the same team.

You can choose either self respect or carrier growth. They are not complimentary but are contradictory. Lot of caste,state & language bias in promotions, awards and foreign training & postings.

SAIL is a Behemoth, there's a lot of inertia towards accepting newer HR practices, leaving the new recruits (the millenials) distraught. Drops maketh an ocean but the contribution is seldom noticed, same in SAIL. SAIL is yet to leverage the power of IT in business. Training is another which needs to be shored up</mark>. I like the job security nd work-life balance here.Also I got great colleagues and they helped me a lot in other words collaboration is really really nice even when I was on my training period

Dislikes

Growth is really slow.Managers do not value each individual strengths.No job-training facilities are available.Hence seniors colleagues guide step-by-step .Necessary things(e.g., office stationaries, defective system replacement ) are even provided after a lot lot if requests.

I worked all through as a Materials manager that was all about procurement, stores, inventory control and managing people. Towards the end of my career Marketing function was an addition. Both Materials Management and Marketing combined is a tough job.

Good and enough opportunity to give your best. The company has been quite innovative and going ahead with adopting modernization. Development ant training of people is given due priority. Appraisal system is followed very meticulously.

Dislikes

Nothing very specific. At times work pressure is high and one is required to work long hours.

Initially it was at plant level working for maintenance and operation various departments. At corporate level worked as Director(Personnel), Managing Director (Rourkrla Steel Plant) and then as Director(Commercial).
