Opinion on personal career management
I feel being friendly and professional, rather than being friends with everyone at your workplace, is the way ahead if you wish to have a long and stable career.
Rather than complicating stuff, have short term plans:
Evaluate your situation ever 3-4 years on the following parameters:
1. Are you learning anything new from the day-to-day work that you do? Is there enough scope for learning and development?
2. Is there recognition for your work that you do from your team? Are you feeling appreciated?
3. Are you being paid fairly? Are you able to pay your monthly bills and save/invest for future?
I feel planning and execution is the key.
