So people and some early employees promoted as co founders make themselves the center of flow in their work. Good for themselves, which increases their salary and dependency. But it has created STRONG dependency for anything on these people for lateral hired employees. This gives few of them so much confidence and attitude. I had bad experiences multiple times, when interacting initially, and it resolves only when they can power you over. And work life balance can easily get from avg to very very poor.
