I would like to put this in ponits so it makes the life easier for the people to make a decision about the company. First of all applicant needs to understand that there are two big division under FLSmidth that is Mining and Cement, and my likes and dislikes are purely based on cement division which it seems like little left out at the moment and not the best in the market. Since the higher management it self is more focused towards mining rather than cement so you can imagine what cement would be suffering from. let's have a look at the likes about the FLSmidth Cement Divison. 1.) If you join you would learn a lot in this company about the cement process. 2.) Cannot deny that there is work life balance. 3.) You get to travel different locations, especially when you are in sales. 4.) Get to know about customers 5.) Okie, now let's jump to the dislikes of it. 1.) There is no focus on cement division, and at the moment it's a head less organization. 2.) It seems like investors as well as the top managet is pretty much inclined towrads the mining sector since it's in boom and they want to ride the waves comfortably. 3.) The change in Strategy and organization is so frequent that you just cannot keep up with it. You are bond get it lost. 4.) Off course with frequent changes in organization, the inevtiable comes into picture which is lay off rounds or as we say in the company right sizing. Very very very, frequent. 5.) Most of the cement knowledge guys have already left or about to leave the organization. 6.) Top it off there is always petty politics in the background as well....Read More

Very frequent policy / strategy changes by the top management (mostly once in 3 or 6 months they change strategies, that employees do not know which direction they are sailing. Work allocation and monitoring are poor. Chances for learning and self development on the hierarchy are very low. Any employee will be at a comfort level throughout, however suddenly one day he will be in the hitlist (depends on the immediate reporting manager (IRM). Good work culture and opportunity to work with global offices and even you can travel to global office on deputation.

Dislikes

No job security and even if your are good performer you may not know when you will be thrown out. Always you have to work under pressure of job insecurity. No good increment and promotion. Increment and promotion is given only for people who please their managers and not for doing the work.
