Every Quarter there will be a panic about Layoffs. Anytime you think of getting promoted you will be moved to a new team, and they will call it a team restructure and your appraisal and promotion will be delayed.

Company culture is good. Policies are good such as employee benefits, leaves.
Job security: Dell recently layed off more than 12000 employees and may cut down more head count so it's job security is a major issue. Salary: Salary is little below market standards. Appraisal/promotion : Once you reach to principal engineer position, promotion seems like an alien concept because 1 in around 30-40 principal engineer gets promoted to Sr principal level that too after ATLEAST after 10-12 years working as a principal engineer. Skill development/Learning : NO Scope whatsoever for new learning. Most of people who left there jobs recently were due to lack of opportunities to learn new skills and were bored/tired of working on the same things for years. So if you have a hunger to learn new things, Dell is certainly NOT a place for you. I don't see a single point as of now. This used to be best work life balance org, but not anymore.
The Work-Life Balance is becoming very poor day by day with expectations to work late hours and weekends without compensation, is particularly challenging. Compensation and benefits are below industry standards.
