The Interview That Made Me Reassess Everything

I had a tough interview experience recently for a Java Developer role. With 8+ years of experience under my belt and having worked across a few organizations (mostly due to layoffs), I thought my background spoke for itself. But the interviewer? They fixated on my job changes, made sarcastic comments about my 'commitment issues,' and dismissed my explanations without a second thought. The interview didn’t even last 15 minutes before they said, 'You’re not a fit for what we’re looking for.' It’s left me questioning whether it was my resume they had an issue with or just their approach to hiring. Either way, I couldn’t help but think: if the process itself is this off-putting, maybe I dodged a bullet. Still, rejection stings, no matter the circumstances. To those in the job hunt with me, how do you keep pushing through experiences like these? Let’s share stories and keep each other motivated. Better yet let's make a group interview Survival club

Been there! Had an interviewer question why I left my last job, and when I explained it was due to a company-wide layoff, they smirked and said, 'So you couldn’t make yourself indispensable?' Dodged that toxic workplace for sure.

I once had an interview where the interviewer spent 20 minutes just roasting my past employers instead of asking me anything relevant. Knew right then I wasn't joining that circus.

@a sales executive Sounds like they were more interested in drama than hiring.

Had an interviewer laugh at my three month job stint, assuming I was fired. I had actually left because the company was shutting down. Not every short tenure is a red flag!

Why do interviewers act like staying in one place forever is a badge of honor? It’s 2025, not 1985!

Next time, flip the question, How long do people actually stay in this company before leaving? You’ll see them squirm!

@biryanienthu I’ve asked this before, and the awkward silence told me everything I needed to know.
