Salary Expectations

I am a Social Media Specialist with over 4 years of experience, currently earning around 4.5 LPA. When I joined my current organization, I was shocked to learn that my manager, with just 2.5 years of work experience, was earning a compensation of 7.6–8.5 LPA (approx). It left me questioning market standards—how does someone with less experience not only earn double but also end up becoming manager? I’m now looking to switch roles, and based on my research through platforms like Glassdoor and other sources, I’ve set my expectations at 7–9 LPA. However, many HRs I’ve spoken to claim that even 6 LPA is too high. I can’t help but wonder what should the ideal salary expectation be for someone with my experience and skill set in today’s market?

For someone with 4+ years of experience in social media, 7–9 LPA seems like a reasonable expectation, especially if you have strong results to showcase.

IMO, Beyond salary, consider opportunities for growth, skill enhancement, and work-life balance when evaluating offers.

How do you think companies should evaluate employees for promotions.....performance, potential, or both?

That’s a big gap to justify....Do you think years of experience matter less than role-specific expertise these days?

Sometimes roles like a manager come down to communication skills. What do you think sets your manager apart in this case?
