Salary Account Confusion

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to the whole salary account thing. My company just sprung this on me, saying I need to open a salary account with Jupiter. I'm confused because I already have a savings account that works just fine. Why do I need another account? What's the big deal? Is there something special about salary accounts? And what's up with Jupiter? I've never even heard of them! Any advice on this would be super helpful. I'm feeling a bit lost right now.

Its just like any bank account except that the bank would designate it in their records as "salary" account and give specific benefits (Like zero balance, offers on loans/credit cards etc)

No, Don't open it with Jupiter. Either you can give your existing savings account, the bank will convert it into a salary account. Or you can go ahead with any bank and open a new salary account. Look for the bank which gives good benefits or credit cards. Eg hdfc, axis etc
