Is it okay to quit a job after a horrible first day?🥲
My friend started a meat stocking job last weekend, and his first day was a disaster. Instead of proper training, his coworker dumped all the work on him, then yelled at him for being too slow. He was scolded for minor mistakes, falsely accused of mishandling stock, and even sprayed with cleaning water "accidentally."
The guy later tried to act nice, but my friend had already had enough. He’s had a migraine since and dreads going back. He’s supposed to return this week but wants to quit. Is it okay to just leave?🤷♂️🤷♂️

Nah, find something else. That is a glimpse of what you will be going through regularly. Tell whoever hired you, “Thank you so much for the opportunity, but after the way I was treated on my first day I am not comfortable continuing employment with this company.” Who knows maybe you’ll save the next person lol

I've said this to people and HR.
They try to stutter through an apology: but the fact is, they KNOW they have an abusive a###ole and they're paying him while allowing the abusive bs.

See yaar, If you need this job, I would at least reach out to the person that hired you before quitting. It sounds like this guy is a problem and they very likely know it. If they won't do something to prevent the same thing from happening, then yes, quit. But it could be they will help you and it can work out. You won't know until you speak to someone.

The guy training your friend, did you report to him? If not, ask him to go to your manager and let them know what happened. Decide on whether to stay based on their response.🤔🤔

Ask your friend to don’t downplay his feelings by saying you may be acting too sensitive. The workplace should never make you feel that uncomfortable, and honestly there is no harm in quitting. Ideally, get another job before quitting, but your mental well being comes first and if this is a massive strain on that then it’s best to leave.

Bro so toxic it was literally your friend's first day. You don’t owe them anything, just leave and find a better place. If that was how your first day was and how they treat new employees it’s NOT going to get better, imagine how they treat current employees?

It’s okay to quit a job whenever you want. Your employer wouldn’t hesitate to lay you off if they needed to.
