I am currently working in a  NPD methods role and I'm in the auto components manufacturing industry (under chassis components) with 9YOE now I'm looking for a job change. I am interested in moving to the design field. Are design software skills mandatory to get into a design role, or can my manufacturing knowledge help me get in first, and then I can learn the software on the job? I have basic knowledge of design software from college. What would you? suggest? And will I be considered as a fresher?

Day to Day Office

I’ve finally found a great manager. I used to think all managers were the same...demanding, controlling, and hard to please. But then I switched jobs and met my current boss. She actually listens to us, respects our time..no calls after 7 pm, and encourages mental health days when needed. Last week, she surprised the team with personalized thank you notes for our hard work on a project. It was a small gesture but made a big difference in morale. Honestly, working here feels like a breath of fresh air after years of toxic environments.

Finally Found a Manager Who Truly Cares

Sure, you have people around, flatmates, coworkers, friends....and family is just a call away. But still, it can get incredibly quiet, and sometimes the noise inside your head becomes overwhelming.

How do you cope with that?

P.S. I live with family now, so there's always some drama going on....But I’ve lived alone before, so I know what it feels like.

Also, I’m not sure if this is what loneliness feels like, or if it’s something closer to depression?

For those who live alone, how do you handle the silence?

I’ve been working at a small startup for the past 3 years, with just 3 other employees and my boss. I sit right in front of her, and over time, we became close, almost like siblings. I automated a lot of my tasks, so my work became pretty straightforward...I just input some variables here and there, and I’m done. Over the last year, my boss started asking me how I did all of that, and she wanted to learn it herself. Since we were so friendly, I didn’t think much of it and happily taught her everything I knew. This morning, she sat me down and told me that to cut costs, she needed to let me go and take over my role. She asked if I’d be willing to do a once a year consulting gig to check her work. I didn’t really know how to respond. She said it kindly, so I stayed calm and matched her tone, but now I feel like I’ve made a mistake, and I’m left without a job.

I trained my manager and now she no longer needs me.

I’m currently working as an Azure Data Engineer with 6 years of experience in India. While I enjoy my role, I am actively exploring onsite opportunities in any country to enhance my career growth, financial stability, and global exposure.

Seeking Onsite Opportunities – Need Insights & Suggestions

Right after my BCom, I took a service advisor role at Honda for ₹7K due to urgency. Later, I moved to a gas station for ₹10K, handling all kinds of work beyond office tasks.

My breakthrough came when I joined as an order management specialist in Bangalore for ₹22K. To advance, I self-learned Excel, Power BI, coding, and automation, earning a specialist role. I also completed my MBA in Logistics & Supply Chain online. After four years, my salary reached ₹35K. 
With management’s support, I transitioned to a procurement specialist role at ₹45K + ₹11K (night shift), later growing to ₹58K + ₹11K by optimizing processes.

Now, I’m preparing for an HR round and planning to ask for a 55% hike. Am I on the right track? How can I accelerate my career growth?
