I got merely 18% hike on current CTC along with 2lakh joining bonus in my current CTC for Technical Project Manager role that too in a startup .Is really market down these days? How to negotiate . Current CTC -28, YOE-12 years. Disappointed with the offer .There were 5 round of interviews for this role. I am in well settled organisation and doing good and can expect promotion in next cycle FY 25. Please advise.

A mere 18% hike ? That's like getting a slice of pizza when you ordered a whole pizza.
Have you considered exploring other opportunities or negotiating a better package with your current employer ?

Brother Startups usually offer lower salaries, but they try to make up for it with bonuses, stock options, and the chance to multiply. But if they’re not giving you much in terms of equity or a clear path to grow, that’s definitely something to think about👍

1. Assess your roles and responsibilities in your current org with the one offered.
2. Check if company culture fits you. Sometimes startups are more of a hustle with Saturday working, additional work hours etc.
3. Try to talk to your manager about your aspirations. If they really consider you as an asset, they will try to negotiate terms for staying like retention bonus, immediate promotion etc.

Don't go for it. Not worth all the uncertainty. After 4 rounds of interview i got offered a 30% hike, proposed a counter and I got cancelled lol. I will have this same money in my current org. a year down the line. So let it go without much regrets. Also startups are a bit crazy. Job security, wlb and culture moslt prolly won't be satisfactory if you're working in a big org/mnc. Not worth don't jump I'd recommend

Honestly, an 18% hike isn't bad for a startup, considering they usually can’t offer the big bucks that corporates do. But 5 rounds of interviews?

The fact that they offered a joining bonus means they’re trying to sweeten the deal, but the hike feels pretty low considering your experience. I think it’s time to reassess whether a startup is really worth the effort at this point in your career.

18% hike for 12 years of experience? That’s insulting.
