Ezra Dyer: Jaguars in the Driveway
- In a neighborhood filled with diverse vehicle collections, one resident stands out with a driveway full of Jaguars, including models like XK8, S-type R, XJR, and Mark 2.
- Ezra Dyer, intrigued by his neighbor Kemp Neal's passion for Jaguars, visits his garage where Kemp works on British cars like a Bentley and plans a Jaguar meetup.
- Kemp shares stories of his experiences with Jaguars, including having to cut a hole to access a stuck trunk and the challenges he faced with old Jaguar models.
- Despite Kemp's love for classic Jags, he expresses skepticism about Jaguar's new Type 00 concept car and questions the brand's sudden shift to higher-priced models.
- Kemp, along with his brother John, prefers vintage Jaguars, as the newest Jag in their collection is 20 years old, showcasing their loyalty to older models.
- During a drive in the 2024 F-type convertible, Kemp admires its design and V-8 performance but raises concerns about potential issues with the motorized HVAC system.
- While Kemp appreciates the F-type, he hesitates due to its high price and depreciation, opting to stick with older, more affordable Jaguar models in his collection.
- Despite his reservations, Kemp acknowledges the F-type as the pinnacle of Jaguar's traditional front-engine, two-seat layout and contemplates adding it to his lineup of cars.
- With an eclectic mix of vintage Jaguars and the modern F-type, Kemp Neal's passion for British cars shines through, embodying a blend of nostalgia and appreciation for automotive heritage.
- As Kemp debates the inclusion of the F-type in his collection, his affinity for classic Jaguars remains strong, reflecting a timeless love for these iconic vehicles despite Jaguar's evolving lineup.
- The saga of Kemp Neal's Jaguar collection illustrates a colorful journey through automotive history, blending old-world charm with contemporary performance, showcasing a unique perspective on British motoring.

Chinese Cars Outsold British Cars In The U.S. Last Year
- Chinese automakers outsold UK automakers in the US last year, despite the absence of any actual Chinese automakers selling here.
- Cars made in China from Volvo, Buick, Polestar and Lincoln outsold all the cars built in the UK.
- Seven UK-based brands are on sale in the US market, which include Jaguar, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce, Lotus, Mini, Bentley and McLaren.
- Chinese-built cars were subject to a 100% import tariff last summer. In contrast, the UK-built models of all seven brands totaled just over 79,000 sales last year.
- The UK auto industry is flagging and appears to be positioned to cater only to wealthy customers.
- China managed to beat out the UK on US sales charts, with more than 80,000 Chinese-built vehicles sold in the U.S
- The biggest seller on the China-built charts is the Buick Envision, with mid-size SUV selling 47,340 last year, followed by Lincoln's Nautilus SUV, which recorded 36,544 sales.
- Automakers likely imported extra vehicles from China before the 100% tariff taking effect, so it is unclear whether these sales will hold up in 2025.
- Polestar plans to keep importing the Polestar 2 in some volume. But for high-volume products, automakers are expected to relocate production, and moving towards the US may not be feasible for the UK automakers.
- According to data analytics Tyson Jominy from J.D. Power, 'long-term the direction is clear that China will surpass many established manufacturers and trading partners'.
