Deputy Manager - Indirect Taxation
Functional Reporting: Senior Manager- Indirect Taxation
Administrative Reporting: Senior Manager- Indirect Taxation
Location: Ahmedabad
Role Purpose
· Manage and oversee all indirect tax-related matters, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
· Optimize tax strategies for the organization, minimizing tax liabilities while ensuring full compliance.
· Provide guidance and support on indirect tax issues across the business, including GST, customs duties and other relevant taxes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial
· Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize indirect tax liabilities, ensuring the company’s financial resources are utilized effectively.
· Oversee the indirect tax budget, ensuring expenditures related to tax compliance, audits, and disputes are within the allocated budget.
· Identify opportunities for tax savings through legal means, including exemptions, refunds, and credits, to enhance the company’s financial performance.
Customer
· Lead the development of a comprehensive consumer insights strategy, utilizing market research and data analytics to identify market trends, consumer needs, and preferences.
· Develop and manage consumer research projects, including surveys and focus groups, to gain a deep understanding of target audiences and enhance customer engagement.
Process
· Maintain tracker for compliance & assessments
· Finalization of tax workings and reconciliations for submission to tax officials
· Drafting responses for submission with tax department and collating supporting documents for the same
· Streamline and automate tax filing processes to enhance accuracy, reducing manual errors and ensuring timely compliance
People
· Mentor and develop the indirect tax team, enhancing their skills and knowledge to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
· Foster strong working relationships with finance, legal, procurement, and other teams to ensure alignment on tax-related matters and effektive issue resolution.
· Design and conduct training sessions on indirect tax laws and company policies for relevant departments to improve overall organizational competency in tax matters.

· Ensure accurate and timely filing of GST, customs duties, and other indirect tax returns
· Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize indirect tax liabilities and enhance cost savings
· Manage tax audits, assessments, and disputes to protect the company’s interests
· Streamline and automate tax processes for improved efficiency and accuracy
· Lead and develop the tax team while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders
· Monitor and ensure continuous compliance with updated tax laws and regulations
· Provide proactive tax advisory support to business units for strategic decision-making

Role Requirements:
Educational Qualifications
· CA or equivalent post-graduate degree in finance or taxation
Experience (Type & Nature)
· 8-12 years of experience in indirect taxation, preferably within the FMCG sector
Functional Competencies
· Deep knowledge of GST, customs duties and other indirect taxes
· Expertise in tax planning and compliance
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Experience in managing tax audits and disputes
· Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems
