Senior CSSD Technician

Role & responsibilities

• Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments and other medical devices.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (autoclaves, sterilizers) to ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
• Inspect instruments for any damage, wear, or malfunction and ensure they are properly functioning.
• Ensure instruments are correctly assembled, packaged, and labeled for sterilization.
• Track and manage sterilized medical supplies, ensuring that the required items are readily available for surgeries and procedures.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of sterilized and non-sterilized items.
• Follow strict safety guidelines to ensure that all processes are compliant with hospital infection control protocols.
• Monitor and document sterilization cycles, ensuring that all parameters are met and recorded.
• Safely handle and transport contaminated instruments from various departments to the CSSD for sterilization.
• Ensure proper segregation of contaminated and clean instruments.
• Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals to ensure that all required instruments are sterilized and available for procedures.
• Respond to urgent requests for sterilized instruments during emergency procedures.

Preferred candidate profile

• A diploma or certification in CSSD Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or any related field.
• Proficiency in operating sterilization equipment (autoclaves, sterilizers, etc.).
• Knowledge of various sterilization methods (steam, dry heat, chemical, etc.).
• Ability to inspect, maintain, and repair medical instruments.
• Must have strong attention to detail to ensure the sterilization of instruments is done accurately and safely.
• Ability to detect any faults or damage to equipment and report them promptly.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with hospital staff and colleagues.
• Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions accurately.
• Awareness of hospital infection control protocols, standards, and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with sterilization procedures and guidelines set by health authorities.
• Ability to quickly resolve issues related to equipment malfunction or sterilization failures.
• Critical thinking skills to troubleshoot problems effectively.
