CSSD Technician

Role & responsibilities

• To conduct periodic sterility checks along with sterilization process monitoring and record maintenance.
• Responsible for routine maintenance check and daily inspection of all type of CSSD machines according to manufacturer recommendation and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Oversee the quality indicators while decontaminating the equipments.
• Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
• Monitoring and maintaining registers like Autoclave log register, Recall registers, ETO registers etc.
• Monitor surgery schedules daily, identifying general, specific and potential needs for all cases and planning activities aligned to the same.
• Maintain appropriate records to remain compliant with the regulatory agencies
• Demonstrates a basic understanding of technical data and product information on instruments and equipment

• Restocks, labels and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects and distributes instruments, trays and facility medical equipment.
• Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
• Ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures, objectives and quality improvement standards, safety, environmental and infection control protocols.

• Education and training of new entrants, assessment and development
• Work in conjunction with inter-departmental staff to provide timely sterile products.
• Ensure there is appropriate handover communication at each change of shift

• Maintain strong working/collaborative relationships with other departments to ensure flow and continuity of services
• Co-ordination with maintenance team and ensuring quality steam, water and electric supply.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma in CSSD
• 2-4 years of experience in Sterile Services (CSSD) field in hospitals
• Good knowledge of CSSD systems, management, quality, assurance and procedures is required
• Knowledge of sterilization processes and techniques and medical terminology in order to interpret the needs of users
