Job Description
The Incident Manager for Networking Operations will be responsible for managing, resolving, and documenting all network-related incidents within the organization. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure incidents are resolved promptly, minimizing downtime, and maintaining high service availability. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, along with extensive experience in network operations and incident management.
- Lead and manage the entire lifecycle of network-related incidents from detection to resolution.
- Prioritize and escalate incidents based on severity, impact, and urgency.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of incidents.
- Implement and manage Incident Management policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
- Continuously monitor network performance using various monitoring tools and dashboards.
- Prepare and deliver incident reports, including root cause analysis, impact assessments, and corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain documentation of incidents, procedures, and processes to improve knowledge sharing.
- Act as a bridge between Network Operations, IT teams, and other departments to streamline incident handling and resolution.
- Facilitate post-incident review meetings to identify lessons learned and implement preventive measures.
- Work closely with change management teams to ensure network changes do not impact ongoing operations.
- Identify gaps in existing incident management processes and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
- Continuously enhance the incident management framework to align with best practices.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall management.
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in managing network hardware like routers, switches, and load balancers from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or Fortinet.
- Familiarity with cloud-based networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple incidents simultaneously.
- Experience in facilitating incident review meetings and documentation.
