Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Satellite Network Specialist to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of satellite communication networks. This role involves working on advanced satellite technologies to support global communication services across diverse sectors including telecommunications, defense, aerospace, and media. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of satellite networks, ensuring both technical excellence and operational efficiency.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Network Design & Implementation:

Design and implement satellite communication network solutions, ensuring alignment with client specifications and industry standards.
Collaborate with engineers to develop satellite network architecture, including ground stations, satellite links, and terminal equipment.

Network Management:

Monitor the performance of satellite networks, ensuring reliability, availability, and quality of service (QoS).
Troubleshoot network issues and ensure timely resolution, working with internal teams and external vendors as necessary.
Manage satellite bandwidth allocations and optimize resource utilization to improve network performance.

System Integration & Testing:

Oversee the integration of satellite communication systems, ensuring compatibility and proper functionality across components.
Conduct extensive testing and validation of satellite systems to verify operational readiness.

Optimization & Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance and optimization tasks to improve network capacity and minimize downtime.
Work on satellite link budget analysis and adjustments to enhance system performance.

Documentation & Reporting:

Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for network designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
Provide regular reports on network performance, incidents, and resolutions to management and stakeholders.

Compliance & Standards:

Ensure all satellite network operations comply with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and security protocols.
Stay updated with the latest trends and innovations in satellite communications, ensuring the organization adopts cutting-edge technologies.

Collaboration & Training:

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, project managers, and technical support staff.
Provide training and technical support to internal staff and clients as needed.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Satellite Communication Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of satellite communication systems including VSAT, Ku-band, C-band, and Ka-band.
Familiarity with satellite modem configuration, earth station infrastructure, and satellite link budget analysis.
Experience with network protocols and communication standards such as IP, DVB-S2, and MPEG.

Networking Skills:

Proficiency in networking technologies such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
Hands-on experience with satellite-based networking equipment like routers, modems, and antennas.

Troubleshooting & Optimization:

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve network issues.
Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for satellite networks, including traffic management and congestion control.

Software & Tools Proficiency:

Familiarity with network simulation and modeling tools (e.g., NS3, OPNET, or similar).
Proficiency in network monitoring tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, or equivalent for managing satellite networks.

Project Management:

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Asana).

Qualification & Experience Required

Education:
- Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, or a related field. A Masters degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in satellite communication or related fields, with a strong understanding of satellite networks and technologies.
- Hands-on experience in satellite link engineering, network management, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in system integration, testing, and optimization of satellite communication systems.
- Prior experience with satellite-based networking in industries such as telecommunications, aerospace, or defense is highly desirable.
Certifications:
- Certifications in networking technologies (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent) are advantageous.
- Any specialized certifications in satellite communication (e.g., VSAT) are a plus.
